Library data

What real websites are made of

Every site in the library is captured whole and cut into its pages and sections, then tagged. These tables count those tags across the 19 sites, 135 pages and 408 sections held as of 26 September 2026. They describe this library, chosen for craft and speed, not the web at large, and they change as sites are added.

In short

  • Every one of the 19 sites has a hero section.
  • The most common section that is not on every site is about, on 95% of them.
  • 78% of all sections use a multi column layout.
  • A home page has a median of 8 sections, ranging from 5 to 16.
  • 5% of sites have a pricing page.

Share of all 408 sections. A section can carry more than one layout tag, so the shares do not add up to 100.

Which pages websites build

Share of the 19 sites with at least one page of each type. Only pages that were captured count, so a type can be under-represented if it was not screenshotted.

How this is counted

Each site is captured as full-page screenshots of its main pages, then every page is cut into the sections a visitor scrolls past. Each page and section is tagged by hand with a type, a layout and a style, using one fixed vocabulary, so a hero on a bakery and a hero on a software product count the same way.

"Share of sites" means the site has at least one such page or section among what was captured. Not every page of every site is captured, so page types are a floor, not a census. Percentages are rounded. The tables are regenerated whenever the library changes; the date at the top is the last time it did.

To cite a figure: Made on Web library data, 26 September 2026, https://madeonweb.com/data/. The websites, pages and sections behind every row can be browsed, and each landing page carries the same breakdown for its own slice.
